After the successful launch of Lokmanya Medical Foundation in 1975 the need to give medical education to the students of PCMC area was felt by Dr. V. G. Vaidya and Dr. S. A. Katekari. In 1983 one Homoeopathic OPD was started in the premises of Lokmanya Hospital, Chinchwad. This OPD got good response from the people in general from in and around Pimpri-Chinchwad area. Considering this best response it was thought of starting a Homoeopathic Medical College, which will impart scientific knowledge about Homoeopathy to the students allover Maharashtra. With lot of efforts of Dr.V.G.Vaidya, Dr.S.A.Katewkari and Dr.Hussainy on 18th September 1984 the dream came true when LMF Homoeopathic Medical College was started.
In very short duration the college became popular amongst the students community because of best clinical material available in Lokmanya Hospital & College.
In the year 1989 degree course was started and the college was affiliated to University of Pune.
In 1998 a separate university was started in Maharashtra state to which all the medical & paramedical courses were affiliated. LMF Homoeopathic Medical College also got affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences situated at Nashik. The college imparts training to around 350 medical students studying every year. The institute is recognised by the University of Pune and its students are front rankers in merits among the University results. |

Admission Procedure : |

The admission procedure starts in the month of June after the declaration of 12th result. A basic criterion for admission is that the students should have passed the 12th examination with Science. The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences conducts common entrance test in the month of April. The admissions are given in two categories i.e. Free seats for the candidates who stood in the merit list in the test and payment seats for other candidates.

The College Building : |

|
The college building is situated in the heart of Chinchwad near PCMC Auditorium.
It is approximately 16500 sq ft and accommodates all the departments and other latest facilities. All the departments are well developed as per the norms given by Central Council of Homoeopathy. The college has its own girls hostel. |

The college has well established library with approx 4500 books. Out of these 2716 are on homoeopathy subjects and 1658 on allied subjects.
There are educational video, audio cassettes and computer with all the related homoeopathic software for demonstration of various concepts in homoeopathy. |

There is spacious well-ventilated dissection hall with tanks for preservation of sufficient number of dead bodies. Descriptive charts of all the systems are well displayed in the hall. There is separate museum containing sufficient number of well-mounted colored specimen, articulated skeletons and models. |

Department of Preventive & Social Medicine : |

| The video cassettes related with MCH, Occupational disorders, Nutritional disorders, Infectious diseases etc. Slides on non-communicable & communicable diseases etc. Well developed museum on Nutrition, MCH & models on Environmental health. The students of this college are encouraged to participate in various National Health Programmes declared by the Central & the State Government. The students also participate in educational visits at various places in and around PCMC and Pune area. Certain projects like Family study projects, School Health projects etc. are also conducted by this department. |

The department of Pathology has a well developed museum of Pathological specimen of various systems and a good collection of histopathology, microbiology and parasitology slides. The Laboratory has display & demonstration charts designed by the students.

This department has a museum room with models, equipments, apparatus, specimen and various charts. All modern equipments like projection microscope, binocular microscope, compound light microscope, ECG machine, spirometer, stethograph, spectroscope etc. are there in the departments. |

Department of Hom. Pharmacy : |

The department of Hom. Pharmacy deploys the best museum containing more than 200 crude dry and fresh plant substances with various transparencies and many more varieties of slides of medicinal plants. There is a good collection of latest technological instruments to carry out the preparations of N I to N IV, quality ascertainment of tinctures etc.
There are various laminations and rare photographs of most of the plants/animals/insects and minerals included in material medica, along with nosodes and synthetic sources. |

Department of Forensic Medicine : |

Education through lectures specially aided with slide shows, OHPs, transparencies, are conducted by the department. Different cases of poisioning with their treatment are demonstrated in the attached Lokmanya Hospital. The departmental museum contains various weapons, poisonous snakes, insects and poisonous substances. |

The department of Gynecology & Obstetrics runs a Gynec/Obst. OPD with homoeopathic treatment for female related problems at Lokmanya Hospital, Chinchwad. For the benefit of students and common people this department organises health educational lectures alongwith various specimen related with the subject. The department also holds special ANC clinic weekly for practical experience and the knowledge of the students. |

Department of Materia Medica : |

The department of Materia Medica has computers with good homoeopathic softwares installed. A separate departmental library with large collection of books is available for students.
There are charts portraying constitution and temperament of the homoeopathic remedies and also group remedies. The department also conducts seminars. |

Repertory : |
| |
There are laminated charts of the stalwarts of Homoeopathic repertory with their contributions made to the above subject. Computers with homoeopathic softwares, which helps in demonstrations of the cases to be solved with the aid of softwares by repertorisation. There are informative OPHs, charts in the department to facilitate the better understanding of the subject. The seminars/clinical meetings are conducted by the department in which OPD cases are brought up for discussions. |

Practice of Medicine : |

This department has a large collection of instruments, X-rays, charts, OHPs, slides, color Doppler cassettes and audio cassettes on various clinical aspects of medicine for easy understanding of the subject. The students are exposed to various investigation procedures that are conducted in Lokmanya Hospitals. |

Surgery : |
| |
The department of Surgery has all the instruments, orthopedic appliances, specimen, x-rays, ENT slides for demonstrations to the students.
The students are exposed to Emergency medical services in road accidents and casualty handling training. During Internship the interns are exposed to various minor and major operative procedures in Lokmanya Hospitals and Trauma Center.
The students/interns are taught about the role of Homoeopathy in so-called surgical diseases. |
